Bloomberg Government – First in Power Play

Republican lobbyist Aleix Jarvis, who spent the past two decades lobbying for big-name companies and organizations such as Apple Inc. and the National Retail Federation, is opening his own shop, Tholos Government Relations.

Jarvis said he saw opportunity in the “age of disruption,” with the GOP poised to control the Senate, the House, and the executive branch, and with new technologies changing the debates.

“Those evolving landscapes necessitate changes in how companies and organizations are going to navigate D.C.,” he said. “This just seems like a market that’s ripe for disruption. I saw a place in that market for a firm that’s client first, client always. We want to make something happen for them every day. That’s our philosophy.”
A former high-level policy aide to incoming Senate Budget Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Jarvis’ clients have included Delta Airlines Inc. and the NFL Players Association at the all-Republican firm Fierce Government Relations, according to public lobbying disclosures.

Jarvis worked for Graham starting in the 1990s when the lawmaker served in the House and later in the Senate. He said he plans to bring on additional lobbyists and clients in the coming weeks and keep the firm all Republican. His one-time boss will be at the center of major debates in the new Congress, as Republicans work to push tax, border and other measures through a budget reconciliation process.

Tholos shares its name with the structure that sits atop the Capitol Dome housing a lantern that signals when the House or Senate is in session.
